Question:

Is it wrong to go on a small vacation without my baby?

I have been recently asked my a friend many times that I visit them in California, many miles away from where I live... I really want to go and visit them, but I have a 11 month old. His father wouldn't be able to watch him, however I know that his grandparents or aunt and uncle would. I don't know if anyone else has taken their kids on a vacation/visit, or have they left them with responsible adults? I've never really went anywhere that involved long travel so I'm not sure how flights are with children. Any advice? Does it sound selfish of me to want to take this vacation? I am a stay at home mommy and want to do whats best for my baby boy... but at the same time, it would be nice for a little break... Advice?

  1. I think your baby is too young to leave alone for more than one night.  Take her with you.  She flys for free at this age.  They really aren't that hard to take care of on a plane.  I travelled a lot with my husband for work and we always brought our babies with us.  Even when we went to China for 2 weeks we took our 9 month old with us and left our 2 year old....that devistated the 2 year old and I would never do that again....that's too long even for a 2 year old.  Take the baby with you.

  2. It's not selfish at all to take a little break as long as it isn't over a few days long.
