I just bought a Rubik's Cube and didn't know how to do it so I just memorized the formulas they gave in the "HINT BOOK". Is that cheating?

  1. No, it isn't cheating. It is harder to do it without, but not impossible. Most people who didn't learn from a book started by using the commutator principle. Memorizing formulas is also faster for speedcubing. I don't think it's cheating. At first, I just had hints how to do it, and I could always get 2 layers (since I was 6) and I just needed a little help with the last layer. Hope this is a decent answer.

  2. Unless it tells you EXACTLY what to do I wouldn't consider it cheating.. it's simply pointing you in the right direction.

  3. No of course not. Otherwise they wouldn;t give you the cheat book. You can memorize the solutions if you want. It's not like the Rubiks police are going to come after you!
