Question:

Is it wrong to put clothing on a dog?

I personally feel that it's ok to put a sweater on a dog if it's a hairless dog and the weather is cold. I think it's stupid though when people put silly costumes on animals. Some animals get used to this but I think dogs would rather be without a useless, frilly tutu, for example! I was amazed at some of the stupid outfits they sell for small dogs. This seems to be a big trend too!

  1. I think it's okay unless it's obvious the costume is bothering the dog. It really is a waste. That material should be used for childrens clothes who don't have any.

  2. A lot of people dress their dogs up...in our society our dogs have become our "children" in a lot of ways haha!  I know ours have sweaters, but we mainly only put clothes on our Whippet -- they're a skinny, short-haired breed and when it's cold out he shivers without his little jacket!  So we're just being practical ;-)

  3. To each their own.

  4. Please put it on a hairless dog in the winter! I make dog sweaters for people all the time and their dogs seem to enjoy them. I think it's silly for dogs to wear ribbons in their hair and tutus, but if the dog and owner like it, whatever. One animal that hates to be dressed is a cat. I have 4 and sometimes play with them and put an item of clothing on them and they can remove it SO quickly.

  5. i put a sweater on my dog when hes cold but that's it. Actually there is no cloths to fit my dog everything is to big for him my mom knitted hima sweater

  6. No it's wrong to beat your dog, starve your dog, neglect your dog.

Although you wont see my dog walking around in clothes, it is far from wrong.

  7. I have 2 black labs and would not ever dream of dressing them up.  They have fur that is enough.

  8. My dog has clothes and he is precious in them.  He has a football jersey with his name on it and countless scarfs and other shirts.  I bought him a bandanna with skeletons on it for Trick Or Treat.  I treat him as if he were a kid.  Nothing wrong with that.  My dog loves it.  He prances around like "look at me" when I put this on him.  If he acted like he did not want me to I would stop.

  9. Couldn't have said it better myself!

  10. yea i agree, i dont think its necesary. plus, if its obvious the dog doesnt like it, then of course its wrong... actually im personally against it all together haha

  11. Some dogs seem to like it.  I've seen them get excited when the owner takes their doggie shirt out of their bag.  Some dogs hate it.

  12. Hey,

In my opinion, just as long as the clothes aren't really tight or uncomfy I don't see a problem with it. Er if the dog is cold. But i think if the dog has tons of fur and you put a sweater on it in 90 degree whether then ur cruel. lol.

    Hope I helped ya,

  13. yes

  14. Amen! There are some breeds that really need something to protect them from the weather, but other than that it's ridiculous.

My dog hates rain so I bought her a jacket and I feel embarrassed for her every time she has to wear it.

  15. My dog has a matching shirt to my cat's! Haha, my Mother is ridiculous. The dog doesn't mind it, but the cat get irritated. It's alright to dress them unless they are fighting it, really.
