I know it is PG-13 but i have a friend that is a child psychologist that tells me i should not take him because it is not appropriate for him. He has seen the spiderman and Iron Man type movies before. How is this 1 different. What do u all think? Obviously I have not seen it yet and i am considering seeing it tonight with him.

  1. The local movie critic here is a father himself and he says DO NOT TAKE YOUNG CHILDREN TO SEE BATMAN BEGINS!!!  Do not be lulled because it's only a  PG-13.  The scariness and intensity are way too much for young kids.

  2. some kids are different, some will walk out traumatized and some will have fun and not be affected. i suggest being very cautious at his age. i personally wouldnt take him but if you feel that he can understand it and not be scared or affected maybe you can try.

  3. Batman Begins is a rather dark movie, much darker than Spider-Man or Iron Man.  If your son isn't easily frightened and you're sure he can handle it then you can take him, but I wouldn't recommend it.

  4. He is YOUR child, don't YOU know what would effect him or not by now?  Whether he sees this movie is up to YOU.  Not a message board full of strangers who don't know your child.  By the way I took my then 4 year old to see "Sweeney Todd" and yes she understood it and found it quite humerous.  I guess our family just has that "dark" humor in us.

  5. You need to see it first and then decide. I have let my 5 year old son see some movies that are PG 13. I have heard this is NOT one to let the little ones see. Also, remember you are the one who is going to have to be up with him or have him in the bed with you. My husband let my son watch some show that was very scary and my son would not so much as go into another room by himself for 2 weeks. It was a nightmare for me.

  6. The movie is very dark and pretty graphic in some areas, I wouldn't take my 6 year old. I would see it by yourself and if YOU think your child can handle it take him after that or just buy it when it comes out on DVD.

  7. No it is not wrong. My 5 year old son is interested in all the comics that his 15 year  old brother is interested in and we are going to see Dark Knight as a family but will sit in the back in case it gets too intense for B I can take him out. So -- no -- the only violence is probably very stylized and unrealistic plus you can simply remind him that it is only a movie and not real.

    Have fun!

  8. I babysat a 5-year-old and an 8-year-old this morning who are OBSESSED with batman but you know what? They don't want to see the movie because they say it's looks scary. So I think ask the kid because they are the ultimate person who will know if they are ready to see it or not.

  9. Are you referring to the new Batman movie, "The Dark Knight" with Heath Ledger? If so, it is NOT appropriate for small children in my opinion. It is a great movie, and my husband and I really enjoyed it; however, it is Extremely violent and gory!! My 10 year nephew is begging me to take him to see it, and I refuse. It is MUCH darker than Spiderman and Iron Man.

  10. He will be fine.

  11. I would if my child wanted to see it.. you have seen the previews and now days kids see just as bad stuff on normal TV.. even down to bugs bunny and road runner .. think about it there is always shooting, beatings and killings in those.

  12. no, i dont think so. my 5 yr old have seen it an he loves it

  13. I saw it last night and it is definitely not appropriate for young children.
