Is it your right to commit suicide?

Does everyone have the right to commit suicide? Or is that something that is expressly forbidden in the constitution?

It's not a felony in the U.S, but it's a misdemeanor in some states. In most first-world countries today suicide is not a crime, but the act of attempting suicide means you are mentally ill and unable to make decisions for yourself, therefore you can be institutionalized to prevent self-harm.

Aiding a suicide attempt is a crime in most countries, usually prosecuted as manslaughter or murder.

Well I imagine its the last thing on your mind when you are about to commit suicide.  I personally think its everyones right, I wish people wouldn't because its sad, but ultimately I think it should be a personal choice.

They can hardly put you in jail for committing suicide!!!! You would be in a coffin instead!

Yes and No - Yes; because we all have free will.  No; because you shall love you neighbor as yourself.  Human life is sacred because from its beginning it involves the creative action of God and it remains for ever in a special relationship with the Creator, who is its sole end. As far as the US constitution goes - its probably not in there but it is against the law.  It's murder.

I don't think anyone would try to put you in jail if you try, but you would probably get sent to therapy or a mental hospital or something worse than jail. Mental rehab?
