  1. No.

    Pearl Harbor.

  2. No they are not innocent.

During the second world war Japan formed an alliance with Germany (in other words, Hitler) to fight against the americans british and french.

During the second world war, they bombed pearl harbor. America declared war on Japan shortly after.

  3. No, they were not innocent at all. In 1931 they invaded China, completely unprovoked, and murdered thousands of civilians in Nanking, amongst other locations. They ignored the outcry from other nations, and began to flex their muscles in other parts of Asia and the Pacific. When America (then the leading exporter of oil to Japan) decided not to send Japan any more oil in response (who would not feel threatened by their actions after what they did to China?), they attacked Pearl Harbor. That is hardly innocence.

  4. The tens of thousands of civilians that died that day and the next years, due to the long term effects of the radiation, were apparently innocent.

  5. Well, I would hardly call the Japanese innocent victims of U.S. aggression.  After all, they did initiate open hostilities by attacking Pearl Harbor.  They also were carrying out a war of aggression in China long before that attack.

That said, we certainly had not avoided provoking the Japanese to war.  The United States had funded Chinese resistance to the Japanese invaders and provided support for Chennault's "Flying Tiger" air wing to challenge Japanese air dominance.  We also imposed trade embargoes on essential supplies like oil and steel to hamstring their efforts at imperial expansion, essentially sending them the message that they would be obliged to accept second-tier power status in the East Pacific, or have to take us on.  It is not terribly surprising then that they chose the latter, although even their military leaders at the time felt they might enjoy unfettered success for no more than six months after Pearl Harbor before the United States' industrial and military might would begin to overwhelm their available assets.

That prediction proved almost uncannily accurate, as naval battles at Coral Sea and Midway largely exhausted any advantages the Japanese had.  However, what the Japanese had hoped was that in the face of a decisive string of Japanese victories which began with Pearl Harbor, and the distractions of a war in Europe, the United States might come to an early peace agreement by offering generous terms that would allow the United States to concentrate its attentions elsewhere.   That, of course, did not prove to be the case.  The United States proved willing and able to prosecute a war in the Atlantic and Pacific theaters at the same time.

  6. Nothing innocent in the war. Japan attacked pearl harbour before america attacked it.

  7. They attacked us and we defended ourselves...if we didnt we would be speaking german/japanese

  8. No, The United States only attacked Japan because they attacked America by bombing Pearl Harbor on December 7, 1941

  9. No...... they started to attack pearl harbor, so they asked about it. Its the prize they have to pay for attacking America.

  10. No. They attacked the USA by bombing Pearl Harbor, so they brought the war directly to the USA and themselves as an enemy.

  11. The Americans were not involved in WWII until late...like after the Japanese attacked the US at Pearl Harbor.

Hard to be innocent when your are the aggressor.

  12. No Japan was not attacked by the US and was far from being innocent.  The Japanese had attacked China killed hundreds of thousands of Chinese civilians prior to World War Two even starting in Europe.  You should look at the treatment of the Koreans, actions taken in Manchuria and read about the actions in Nanking before you talk about the innocent Japanese.  The US was very much in an isolationist mode at th time and had no intention of fighting anyone until the Japanese attacked Pearl Harbor; even then the US did not declare war on Germany but rather Germany declared war on the US based on a treaty they had with the Japanese.

  13. America did not attack Japan.

It was Japan that attacked the American base at Pearl Harbour, an act which brought the USA into WW2!

  14. No, Japan allied with Germany in order to have protection and to get a stab at America in the meantime. They attacked Pearl Harbor. I'm pretty sure that's the jist of it.

  15. Not at all. The Japanese attacked Pearl Harbor.

They attacked China, which was an ally of sorts at the time to the U.S.

They also attacked the West Indies in order to gain access to oil and other resources.

They also planned on invading Australia, but it never happened.

  16. No, not at the time. They were brutal invaders through much of the Pacific and China and southeast Asia. They were empire building and needed to be taken down a peg. To invade Japan would have been very bloody after a long hard fought bloody war. Dropping the bomb may be considered cruel but it sent a message and put an end to all that war nonsense.

  17. Japanese along with Germans and Italians were on "yes" for the war. Thus, they deserved to be attacked

  18. Absolutely not they were aligning themselves with Germany, interferring with our trade, cutting off our oil supplies, and then there's the bombing of Pearl Harbor.

  19. No.

Japan bombed Pearl Harbour. It was stupid because it brought America into the war.
