I really don't want to offend anyone but is Japan racist towards african americans or any racist besides there own.

I've heard that they look down upon ppl with darker skin color so I was wondering, what would happen if someone of a differant race visited

  1. i actually heard that they r better than the chinese when it comes to racism, but i dont know how racist they r, but generally all asians r racist (im not being racist at all)

  2. As a nation with a very long history of cultural isolation, its not surprising that Japanese are racists.  Look at how they treated Koreans when their country was under their domination since 1910.  Although many Koreans lived in Japan, they were treated as second class citizens.  The indigenous Ainu people who inhabit the northern island of Hokkaido also experience racial discrimination.  I don't know how Japanese regard Black people, but they do look down on Japanese with mixed blood.  Amerasians are discriminated from work, except they say in the world of fashion modelling.  The thousands of Asian women who work in the country as entertainers largely experience maltreatment from the hands of Japanese, especially because in their line of work they come in contact with members of the brutal Yakusa.  Still there are many many good Japanese, but by the way they stubbornly insist they did nothing wrong in massacring and raping hundreds of thousands of women and girls from Korea, China, the Philippines and elsewhere in the region during WWII, I wouldn't want Japan to regain its military strength.

  3. A smile does wonders in a strange land.

  4. All races like being around their own race...if you've ever watched that Japanese game show "silent library" on youtube, there's a black guy in it. But they probably accept him because he speaks Japanese and he might've been born there.

  5. Yeah i think so, they always prefer their own people....so far in my experience...

  6. Like the first guy said, they're more nationalistic than racist per se. They won't treat you like an enemy if you go there, but from what I've heard you'd probably get some curious glances since they aren't as exposed to black people.

  7. I think they kinda are since they are very nationalistic and are extremely proud of their nation. I mean you can see some racist bigots driving around the city saying "kick out the foreigners" (they even want Koreans and other Asians out!(

They seem to treat White people with amazement though.

Here is a video of racist Japanese trying to kick foreigners out.

  8. Japanese people prefer other Japanese people. They don't even like Chinese or Koreans very much let alone blacks.

  9. according to history books in school i was taught that they wanted to enslaved EVERYBODY, not just blacks. so i think they were racist all along. they are usually to themsevles.

  10. Nothing will happen.seriously.

I know many people love japanese.

and its famous japanese are polite and love black culture .

Japanese people tend to be extremely polite and respectful based on my 2 week trip to Japan.

    and im half black.

  11. They're a very homogenous society, and aren't really familiar with cultural sensitivity. So, you could say they are, though they don't care for race, so much as whether or not you are Japanese.
