  1. Yes, they costumer service is very nice, but the overhead cost is tremendous, they are abit overpriced, but they have much nicer stuff and wider selection that other chains. The free financing for a year is also nice.

    Good luck

  2. As everyone else has said a non-chain/private store will have much better prices and much better selection that Jared.

Before you go to any store you should educate yourself about diamonds and pricing.  Try http://www.bluenile.com/diamond-and-jewe... and http://www.diamondpriceguru.com/shopping... to learn everything you need to know about the diamond market and pricing.

Bluenile.com has the best prices you will find on diamonds and engagement rings in my somewhat educated opinion.  And the customer service is great (according to my fiance did lots of research at Bluenile while shopping for my ring).

  3. my fiancee and i went there and the staff was very professional and helpful, BUT we saved a ton of money through Bluenile.com....for one, no tax was paid, otherwise, we'd get hit with an extra $500 on the ring! i loved the ring my fiancee bought me! its just perfect...we're getting our wedding bands from there as well...we did go to jewelry stores and see what the size of the diamond looked like on my hand, the setting but aside from that, we resorted to online purchasing coz it worked out better...good luck!

  4. ahhh, you're going to Jared!

  5. it's good, but i agree that smaller local places could probably give you a better deal.  my husband got my ring at a store in downtown chicago where he got a platinum band for the same price as white gold.  **tip...don't get platinum, no matter how much she says she wants it.  it bends and dings VERY easily.

  6. go to http://mdcdiamonds.com/EngagementRings.c... they are between 40%-70% cheaper than other jewelers, and they have the biggest online selection of settings and diamonds.

  7. If you want the best deal buy a GIA,AGS,IGI or and HRD diamond from an online store after you learn about the 4 Cs.The same diamonds are sold by street jewelers for 2-3x. I bought my ring from james for less than 1800 euros and it was appraised for 6000 euro by a local jeweler.

For the best online jewelers visit:-

    http://123diamond.co.uk/Online_diamond_s...

You will find some good online jewelers in that page based in the US,as I said I recommend James. You can also visit the forum and have a look at the ring I bought :)

    Goodluck

  8. Try  some of the smaller private owned jewelry stores first. Ask them if they have a great deal on a ring. Most have jewerly that can be made as well as estate pieces. Congratulations!

  9. Private jewelers will give you a better quality diamond and setting for a fair price. Chain stores (like Jared) are pretty inflated. I would find a reputable importer in your area and speak directly to him. Make an appointment, take your budget and ideas with you and have them create your ring. you will establish a lifelong relationship and will have a good solid backing for your purchase. Ask your family and friends who they use, sometimes the will have a jeweler that you don't even know about that they have been using for years!

Make sure ANYWHERE you go that you get the IGA or other certifications as appropriate for the stone you choose.

    Good luck!
