Is jealousy a personality trait?

This is one of the better question on this site.  Let me attempt to explain:

I do not consider myself jealous by nature but h**l in some relationships it simply seems to pop up!

So no I do not think it is nature, I think it is some stuff which simply cause it to pop up.

I do not for one minute say it is a good thing but it is most surely a fantastic thing.  In my current relationship I am ok, but at times I see it happening.  I think it is a good thing.

no it's not. I'd say it can be more common in some people and then maybe you could classify it as a personality trait. But no it's usually not.

baby jealousy is sometimes cool and important, like between lovers, i am verry jealous of my girl friend, i hate it when other guyz look at her, i dont mean i am som shmukk, but i care for her and i dont want any one to even lay an eye on her and if that is deadly, than i will be honored to die with that

I'd say it is more of an emotion.

But, if you get jealous easily, I'd say its a part of your personality.

No everyone feels jealous at one point or another. If it were a personal trait you would always be jealous.

I would tend to think it's born into our genes....unlike other species...instead of jealousy it's territorial control and leadership over their mates.
