Im going to a new school, and they offer a student Air Force ROTC program. Im interested in joining because after I take one class this year, I can take a flight training class my junior year. Im very interested in flying, and this is a cool opportunity. However, my moms boyfriend who teaches at the school says ROTC members arent socially accepted when they have to wear their uniforms every Thursday. Which brings me to my question; should I join? I want to make a good first impression, and Im sure I can find another way to learn how to fly (thats my only interest in joining btw; probably wont join military when I grow up, but I might...).

PS = dont say you shouldnt care what other people think please. I already know that; im just interested in your opinion.

  1. duuudde air force ROTC? tat is sooo awesome. like my opinion? i would totally join. teachers dont know everything that goes around school... especially not the socially stuff tat goes around.. they're totally clueless. i would join it 'cause im in high school right now.... and really social problems arent exactly wat anyone's really worried about. people are a lot nicer and more grown up. and this air force thing seems like it could be your special thing. like flying airplanes? dude tat could be so awesome. and besides... i wouldnt worry about not being able to make any friends 'cause im pretty for sure u will.. and those friends tat u make are going to accept u for who u are and tats soo much better than having everyone in the school like u but not have any close friends. sooo... opinioin... join! it sounds like fun!

  2. I'll be attending my 30 high school reunion this year and the only people I look forward to seeing are the AFROTC people. They were my friends. We were all tight and would walk through fire for each other. I dread having to see most of the other people because I really didn't care for most of them back then. The non-Air Force ROTC people will probably be trying to get me to invest in some stupid this or that scheme or will be looking for donations for this or that cause they've cooked up. But the AFROTC people will be there to talk about the great times we had and to renew old friendships.

  3. I'am in Army JROTC and its fantastic. I'am not sure how airforce is, but i know that regardless you learn a lot in both. I would say go for it, my school is so big that no one even cares what your involved in (well i mean chess club is pushing it a little bit). But usually people dont mind, if anything your given a lot of respect so go for it!!
