Question:

Is joint pain usually cancer?

I am 18 years old and have no history of chronic illness or cancer in my family. Recently I have experienced dull pain in my forearms and in my joints of my hands. I have no other symptoms, but i have experienced the pain for at least two weeks on and mostly off. I am still active, i have no fatigue, and my skin looks completely normal. I think I am too young to have arthritis, so does that mean I might have leukemia or bone cancer?

Thanks.

  1. No it's not, It MAY be arthritis! There is no minimum age for this disability. Please look up hypochondria.

  2. If you play alot of sports that include alot of use of the arm then you may have worn down the cartalidge which stops your bones rubbing against eachother, which can cause similar symptons to which you are describing. Also arthritus has no age requirment, you can get it at any age.

But my opinon would be to go get professional advice from your GP or hospital if you are worried.

  3. Tyler - don't worry so much.  You will make yourself sick.  Such pain is usually from nerve damage or arthritis.  Do you play sports?  Nerve damage is a strong possibility.  Also, arthritis doesn't necessary come at old ages.  See a doctor before you think the worst and let them ask you some questions to evaluate any other symptoms.  Keep a log, as they will ask you the frequency and extremity.

  4. You're never too young for arthritis!!  I started experiencing symptoms of it at 15 after years of gymnastics left me with almost no cartilage.  There are many other things it could be though such as fibromyalgia, lyme's disease etc...  If you are really concerned consult your physician
