  1. I don't have a bottle in front of me. so I'll have to ask you to look at the label. If you see either the letter "U"  or the letter "K", it has been certified as kosher by one group or another.

  2. Being Kosher basically just means you adhere to a certain standard of preparation & ingredients and then (more importantly) you pay a Rabbi to come to the manufacturing facility to certify it.

Since one of their tequilas is Kosher, obviously ingredient-wise and manufacturing-wise they should all be about the same (and both the ones you referenced are not 100% agave).  Even if they didn't pay a Rabbi, the end result is still the same.

Unfortunately there is nothing on their website about it, so you'll have to email them to be certain.  Cuervo@consumer-care.net

I do know that anyone who follows strict Kosher guidelines probably isn't drinking tequila anyway.

And while we're on the subject (I promise I won't just cut & paste things that have nothing to do with your question): Cuervo only makes 2 good tequilas that bear their name, and the Classico and Especial are not among them.  If you must drink Cuervo, go for either the Tradicional or the Reserva de la Familia.  These are both excellent tequilas and are 100% agave.  Their 1800 (which doesn't actually say Cuervo on it) are good also.

When you get a tequila that's not 100% (often called mixto or joven tequilas), you're getting almost 50% grain alcohol and corn sweeteners.  Not only to they junk up the flavor, but the high sugars combined with low quality alcohol are what creates bad hangovers.

  3. I really hate to cut and past my answers but...

    "TEQUILLA

Tequila is made from the agave cactus in Mexico. According to Mexican law any tequila may be labeled 100% agave even though it contains no more than 51% actual agave alcohol!

However, based on research, the cRc has identified one type of tequila which is recommended even without a hechsher (Regular-White).

There are three types of tequila on the market:

    1. Regular-White (also known as Silver) tequila is recommended. This clear tequila contains either 100% agave or a mixture of agave and sugar cane.

    2. Gold-Brown tequila is not recommended. This darker tequila is aged for 3 months and may have color and flavoring added.

    3. Reposado (?rested? ) (also known as Special) tequila is not recommended. It is aged for 6 months and in addition to concerns of color and flavoring, glycerin may be added for density. "

But at least I'll site my source!
