  1. Hardly. There are dozens of players better over the years. He's just one of many.

  2. DID YOU KNOW HE WAS ON STERIOD ONE TIMES.... yea thats now making you feel he like barry bond

  3. Babe Ruth. Today-ARod.

  4. It's hard not to think of the guys injuries, they were part of his career.  If this guy stays healthy though, not only do I think he would be the greatest player ever, I think he'd be approaching the 800 HR mark.  He was a gold glove CF and had great speed, great range and a great arm.  He has the prettiest baseball swing I may have ever seen and he makes it look so effortless.  It's the most pure swing I've ever seen until just recently with Josh Hamilton.  A healthy Jr. in my eyes would have been the greatest player ever.

Anyone that says no to Griffey being one of the best, is either a) too young to have had the priveledge of watching this guy play while he was healthy because he was simply amazing or b) to dumb to realize true talent and wouldn't know a great baseball player from an average baseball player if it bit them on the ***.

  5. ya if u r a big time griffey fan

    otherwise no

  6. He has tremendous talent as a baseball player, and was supposed to be the greatest baseball player to ever play, but I think Hank Aaron was a better all-around player, and Alex Rodriguez is the new prodigy.

  7. No.

  8. No.

Important point, one cannot overlook the injuries, and the stats are the basis for evaluating any player.

But moving past that -- Griffey can't/doesn't pitch. Ruth could and did, quite well. No one in history matches that. And there are many others who have demonstrated superior plate discipline and strike zone control while batting.

  9. i don't think he is the best player ever

  10. sorry but you are just WRONG

  11. Not the best but one of the best.  As far as all around players he is up their with the greats as he was an incredible center fielder as well.  Injuries really robbed him of his true place in history.  Historians will look back and hold him in higher regard because he did it without the roids.

  12. Ken Griffey Jr. would have been perhaps the greatest player who ever lived if it wasn't for the injuries he had. He was a 5 tool player. He was a Gold Glove caliber CF with great speed . A HR and RBI machine. If he didn't miss all the time he missed because of injuries, we would have 800+ HR's by the time he retires. At least his former teammate A-Rod has a chance to go over 800 HR's if he stays healthy.

  13. i'm old....i'm so old i watched ted williams play, and willie mays, too. And mickey, and hank (do they even need last names?). And i saw jr play with his dad, too, when jr was a rookie. And i've watched him all throughout his career. Jr was better than them all. 'nuff said.

  14. he was hot **** back then.  If only he stayed healthy he would probably have been considered one of the best, if not the best baseball player ever.  Its a shame, hes a class act.
