Is jury duty mandatory for students????

I am a college student and tomo is my first day off school and i also got a letter saying i have to go jury duty...and i cant make it...what can happen...i live in Illlinois....i can provide them with a proff that i am college student anyone..helppp

I dont know about your state, in mine, you better be dead or severely disabled to get out of it, NOt even single mothers get out. the rules out here are harsh. in most cases, being a college student is not a valid excuse. if your over 18, tough, your stuck

Don't return the letter! sure they can punish this but they have to prove you even got it....if your not comfortable accepting this limited liability which even if punished would be little more than simple afray then just try saying something especially ignorant, rascist, or biased. get creative you should have no problem getting out of it.

If you're 18 or over, jury duty is mandatory no matter what you do for a living.  They might make exceptions - any information, including who to contact, should be in the letter you got.

If you are an adult, yes it is.   You will get further with your "Proff" if you learn to use spell check.
