Question:

Is just being around a cat and chatting to it while you do stuff as good as actually wholly focussing on him?

Sometimes I'm really busy in the mornings and don't have time to build in a big play session so just chatter to him around the house while I do things - make, eat brekkie, put makeup on, check my emails etc. He often sits on my lap. Is that enough?

  1. yeah that's fine, as long as you don't ignore him!

If he sits on your lap then he's happy. I only properly play with my cat for any long stretch of time two or three times a week and she is happy.

  2. That's the nice thing about cats, they are pretty easy to entertain and it doesn't take LOTS of attention to make them happy. It sounds like you are doing what you can and it sounds like your cat should be happy and healthy.

  3. Just don't talk over them. Or call them by the wrong name. God they hate that.

  4. Well, Cats are really really independent. So I would say that's enough so don't worry !
