  1. If you are worried about it being bad you can put a bunch of cardboard in your gerbils cage and withing 24 hours he'll have chewed it down to make his own bedding.

  2. Hard bedding isnt good like chips and wood chunks

get soft bedding i dont know any brands cause my dad gives me my bedding from his workshop it doesnt matter what kind of wood as long as it is soft and DONT put a plastic igloo in a rodent cage mine chewed it apart and the brown one ate some and it got stuck in his intestin(i think) he died that day wimpers! so soft is the way to go(if you get hard they could swallow a chip and die so be careful!)

  3. I've never had a problem with Kaytee in the 7 months I've had my gerbils. It's great. Kaytee isn't the best, but their aspen is pretty good. Many gerbil owners use it. If you notice any problems with your gerbil, you can always change it. I've also used LM Animal Farm aspen, but I had to buy two packs of that just to fill the tank enough for them to dig in. It got pricey, so I switched to Kaytee.

  4. I have used Carefresh for years.  I use it for both gerbils and hamsters.  It is pretty good and it's relatively inexpensive.  I also add Ecobedding, which is basically shredded paper, to their cage so it's a mix of Carefresh and the Ecobedding.  They like the Eco stuff becaue it's easier to make their nest with.

  5. Kaytee is a wonderful brand. Its the only one I use
