Question:

Is kinky the new black?

I notice so many people these days are quite open about dabbling in being a Dom / sub or fetishes and kinks in general - so what do you think? Are people just more honest because it's less taboo, or are they on the rise in popularity? Have you ever tried anything out of the norm? What are your thoughts? :-)

  1. You are all about the kinky stuff today, huh Elle?

lol It does seem to have become less taboo. I couldn't tell you if more people participated in it though(although it seems that way)

As for if I've ever tried anything out of the norm...lol well I'll leave that one for the GWS chatroom.

  2. no kinky is the new lame . really,  been there, done that , got the T-shirt.

    zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz...

  3. It's much more colourful than black. I whipped an Indian nurse and she said 'oops' every time the whip came down. Great fun.

  4. with so many women trying very hard to be men (as in not feminine) unless you want a power play in s*x/bed they either have to agree on who is in "charge" for the night or they get into kinky.

  5. Eleanor B!! Need you really ask?

  6. I think sexual fetishes are more socially accepted because of a general rise in "fad" behavior. Celebrities and the internet make rhetoric about sexual identity (even if it is not exactly productive or progressive) more common. I would guess that most people who legitimately "live" alternative s*x lives are a bit more reserved about it. People are honest about kink when they are fairly certain that they will not be persecuted. That means it usually happens in an environment that supports it. Whether it is Myspace where they don't have to look anyone in the eye, a club full of their friends or love interests, or a chat site including others who share their interests,  it is a comfort zone. Many of these options didn't exist until fairly recently.

I, myself, have explored sub/dom, and S&M, and found them pretty fun and s**y. Normally, things are pretty classical in my bedroom though...  ; p

Maybe this question will have me exploring tonight. Lol.

  7. Eleanor, you sick little monkey.

  8. Hmmm, I hope this is the bulk of the discussion today on GW&S...I haven't tried anything of the sort but I am interested...in being a sub lol.

  9. white is the new black!! actuallee, before that, silvar, gold an metalics were the new black, realll popular early 2000-2000s. ♥

  10. I think that it is becoming more socially acceptable. The taboos are breaking down. As more people admit that they are into kink, it becomes more of a norm and less of a taboo.

I personally have been tied up (fun!) and love to be spanked. That's the extent of my BDSM experience.

  11. Its because its less taboo.  It was homosexuals back in 1920, but no one knew.  Now that its ok, they are all over the television.  If we had the same standards as 50 years ago, people would still be having boring s*x or having naughty s*x and not telling a soul.

  12. For me it's simply in me,a need and who I am.I can't say for others,i think quite possibly it's alot more out there then it used to be and many just want to dabble in what they consider to be taboo. What's kinky to those who are not sure about it, is perfectly normal to those of us who think of BDSM as a way of life...x*x

  13. So any one that is not in your standard of life is a perv?

As far as I know whatever you do in your bedroom is your business.

  14. Aww I missed all the fun in the chat room! Lol!

I think people are more able to realise and fulfil their fantasies now, mainly due to the Internet which has made information and meetings with like-minded people more accessible. I guess in the past people with kinks either kept them fully to themselves or acted them out with a paid professional rather than with their partner.

But I think the attitudes towards kinks are kind of like the attitudes to bisexuality; it's fine if you're just experimenting or roleplaying, but if it's your genuine sexual identification and a main part of your lifestyle, there's still a strong taboo surrounding it. The majority of people into BDSM as a lifestyle are fully in the closet to their families / colleagues / other friends. People can lose their jobs and/or children because of their kink.

I've tried a few things outside the norm, yes.... :)

  15. hmmm.... I caught the tale-end of this in the chat-room.

Equating skin color with behavior? Very interesting, I shall have to remember this.

The fact is people do ( or don't do )  all sorts of things that most would find insane in the bedroom, regardless of their skin pigmentation..

I have been around many races my entire life, and have found that socio-economic class is a bigger factor in determining behavior.

    *drinks away humanity*

  16. I think I may be the only one to answer this way but here goes:

I think a certain amount of interesting, fun, naughty or "kinky" things keep the sexual relationship satisfying for long term couples...however,

The type of sexual activities such as heavy bondage or painful or degrading things are not normal. I really honestly do not believe that cutting ones skin, or making someone act like a dog are examples of healthy sexual behavior.

Has anyone ever considered that perhaps the bedroom is the only place people in our society are allowed to express feelings or fantasies that would otherwise be deemed problematic mentally or even illegal?

Again, I am not talking about sexual satisfaction using props or games or even light bondage..

I am talking about things that in another arena wouldn't seem acceptable.  I have noticed that the women I speak to who enjoy some extraordinarily painful or demeaning sexual activities ALWAYS..not often, not many times but EVERY time tell me they have been abused or molested or attacked in their life.

I wonder if these people are trying to compensate for their pain by seeing pain as good, like during consensual s*x. hm.
