Is kohl bad for your eyes?

Question

Well, my family & I put kohl around our eyes since it`s a tradition.

But I was reading an article & it mentioned that kohl is bad for you.. :\

Is this true?

I mean, if it was, then wouldn`t they stop selling kohl?

I`m sure it would have been a huge headline if it WAS bad for you.

Kohl itself isn't bad.  But many of the brands of Kohl (Kajal or Surma) imported from Pakistan and India contain high levels of lead.  And that's why you should take great caution with using it.

Of course, if you make your own kohl out of ghee you should be fine.  I like Guerlain's Kohl.
