  1. I presume you mean sport MMA (UFC etc). Well every martial art may provide some help for MMA but many of Krav Maga techniques are prohibited in MMA such as groin strikes throat strikes etc. BJJ, Judo, Mauy Thai, some karate are best for MMA

  2. Krav Maga isn't a sport, it's pure self defense so as much as anyone would want to use it, it's just like putting mayonaisse on chocolate-- They wont mix.

  3. Well, most of Krav Maga is illegal in MMA, but the conditoning would be helpful.  One is a self defense/combat art, the other is for sport.

  4. once they make AK47's legal in the UFC Krav will be great.

  5. I swear some of these answers make my eyes bleed and are slowly depriving me of brain cells...

Why do people who don't know c**p about Krav (aside from what they think they know, or what they saw on TV) talk about it. One good answer here and I gave him a thumbs up.

First off, Krav is good for what it is designed for. It is not designed for MMA, it doesn't have submissions and groundwork. It doesn't have fishooking either, and throat strikes, eye gouges, and groin shots are a very small amount of what is taught in Krav. These aren't fight ending disably strikes as much as the ability to use pain, or sensitive target areas as a distraction or means to set up other things.

I think that the reaction time it gives you, as well as the ability to finish off an injured attacker quickly would be good for MMA. I think combined with MMA they are a good combination, but if you mean Krav as a base for MMA, then not so much.

It's not that the techniques aren't good, it is just that it is designed to overwhelm someone with aggressive force. Against a very skilled fighter, you would be in a lot of trouble using straight Krav Maga in a ring, as a good bit of Krav is meant as sort of a surprise, a quick aggressive response before the would be attacker, or your victim has time to react.

Not great for someone who knows a fight is coming, is looking to use timing, has counters, and will expose any weakness you have in defense.

Just a different animal, but I think both complment each other well for making you a more complete fighter.

  6. No, most of the Krav Maga system would be illegal in MMA

  7. no krav maga is not a sport, it is a fighting technique for survival, it teaches you how to hurt a person in the least amount of time so you can survive... in an mma match a krav maga move would be illegal such as eye gouging, groin kicking etc.... bottom line krav maga is not a sport, it is used by the Israeli special forces to kill and survive.

  8. Krav Maga teaches submissions and strikes with other things but they do not teach the counters and the counters to those counters. it will kick *** in a street fight but when your in the ring or cage it is different because you square off with your opponent and you need to know the counters to the counters. I know you don't see those in the big shows because their all ready to stop them. so it will do some good but really to do mma you need to study mma

  9. i would say knowing any martial art helps with MMA. just having the knowledge of other ways to do things is always good.

  10. I am sorry to tell you this has nothing to do with your question, but I could not PM or e-mail you. I saw that you have been in muay thai for a while and I was wondering if what you learn helps you in real life fights? Because it looks hard and very interesting and I would love to know more. Again sorry for the off topic response. But if you could re-post and answer in the same forum you did earlier it would be much appreciated. Thanks

  11. krav maga is civilian CQC... most of which is illegal in the cage as well as on the streets.  kicks to the groin?  eye gouging?  fish hooks???
