I've been having some sort of contractions all day today, I don't know if they are braxton hicks or real contractions, some have been painful but most just make my belly about 85% hard and are pretty uncomfortable i have between 3-6 an hour. Also my lower back is killing me sometimes more than others and I think I maybe losing some of the mucous plug. I'm almost 38 weeks and my cervix is completely softened and i'm 1 cm. dilated as of this past wed. plus i've been walking my butt off so it maybe a little more now but what do you think? if you need more info just ask....Please help!?

  1. Your stomach will usually get all the way hard, but you might be having more back labor, my Dr told me to call when i had 3 contractions an hour to come in and get checked at the hospital becuase i am also 38 weeks 1cm and effaced, and iv been walking to iv been going through the same thing all day to, you will feel lots more pressure in your lower back butt and legs, contractions will not go away at all they will get more and more every hour and become stronger and not weaker, i would call your dr like the choice for your little girls name thats my daughter name, good luck and congrats

  2. sounds like ya in labour hon... get to the hospital and good luck

  3. 3-6 an hour...Id call your doctor or the nurses station at the labor delivery hospital.

  4. It sounds to me like this is a pretty sure thing, i would deffinetly continue counting my contractions and when they start getting faster between 5-10min. i would call your dr.

  5. well i cant really say for sure but thats what happened to me and i was 8 days early i had minor contraction for a whole 24hrs (went in for false labor) but that night i went in for the real thing. so yes it very well could be your beginning labor. but you'll know either your water will break or you will want to die lol....

  6. hi

I was posting the same kinda question around 8 months ago! i was 38 weeks too so i didnt believe i was in labour, plus midwives dont believe you if its your first time

By the time they actually admitted me i'd had 4 days of contractions ( painful ones) at home and no sleep, i was 6cm!

i would say yes this sounds like the begining of labour. Stay at home for as long as you can handle it because in hospital you wont be able to do much. not that you can do much whilst having contractions anyway!..things that helped me were having someone rub my back really hard, getting a bath and a heat pad.

I would reccomend the birthing ball - i was cynical but it does take away some of the pressure, and definately the epidural.

Good luck, let us know what happens x*x

  7. You could be going into labor. With my son I lost my mucus plug about a week before I went into labor but I had contractions on and off for two weeks before I had him. Keep an eye on your contractions and if they continue to stay steady even after you change positions and if they start to get stronger and closer together I would call your doctor. If you get to the point where it is hard to talk through them, you are def. going into labor, call your doctor. Good luck!!
