  3. Lake Erie is the eleventh largest lake in the world (by surface area), and the fourth largest of the Great Lakes in surface area and the smallest by volume.

Ninety-five percent of Lake Erie's total inflow of water comes via the Detroit River water from all the "upper lakes" -- Superior, Michigan and Huron -- the St. Clair River, Lake St. Clair and numerous tributaries. The rest comes from precipitation. Lake Erie is the shallowest of the Great Lakes and is especially vulnerable to fluctuating water levels.

    Great Salt Lake (GSL) is:

The largest U.S. lake west of the Mississippi River

The 4th largest terminal lake (no outlet) in the world

A remnant of Lake Bonneville, a prehistoric freshwater lake that was 10 times larger than GSL

About 75 miles long, and 28 miles wide, and covers 1,700 square miles

Has a maximum depth of about 35 feet

Typically 3 to 5 times saltier than the ocean

Fish free, the largest aquatic critters are brine shrimp and brine flies

One of the largest migratory bird magnets in Western North America

There are other salt water lakes through out the world.

  4. No, it isn't a salt water lake.  All of the great lakes are fresh water lakes.
