  1. lala.com is the first online music store where members can swap used albums for the slim cost of $1 per album. Combining features of MySpace, Netflix, and Amazon, the site allows members to search for an album in a database -- currently holding 1.8 million titles -- and then receive contact information for users willing to trade that album. When it's time to make the swap, the user mails their CD in a pre-paid envelope provided by lala.com. "There's all this great music out there, especially from developing artists who they don't get any shelf space," the company's John Kuchs told Spin.com. "The whole idea behind la la is to get people to build a conversation around this music -- make it a social experience."
