He is a great player and a great asset to the hawks, however to say "the best goal kicker ever" is a massive call, especially when you throw in names such as Tony Lockett, Jason Dunstall, Gordon Coventry, Gary Ablett, Kelvin Templeton, Peter Hudson, and not to mention John Coleman.

as much as i would love to say yes ......... i don't think it will happen.

As long as he doesn't get injured he will kick a lot of goals, but gone are the years of 100+ goals for the season due to flooding, and with the pace of the game now 15 year careers are going to be harder to achieve

If Buddy can kick 70+ goals for the season it would be a great return for him and the team, and I would love to see him doing that for the next few years.

No he won't, the days of kicking 100+ goals in a season are well and truly over. He could become one of the great FF of the modern era but I wouldn't think he could top Lockett's record amount of goals.

He will be a great player, even a huge star but not the best goal kicker, cos he plays up the ground alot. Guys like Tony Lockett and Jason Dunstall were better goal kickers cos they stayed close to goal. Franklin will be more important if he can run freely up the ground. I very happy he plays for the Hawks or i would probably not like him.

Yea i think he will be, he just has to watch out for Brendon Fevola whos kicking really well. hope its franklin that gets leading goal kicker for this year though.

No way. I think lloyd was the last player to have that potential. No one kicks 100 goals a season anymore and bags of more than 10 are non existent, unlike the old days.

I think he could be, he is only young but has kicked many goals and it is only the 4th round. He is a brilliant AFL player and has a long career a head of him.

But at the rate he is going so far in this year he has the potential to kick just over 100 goals. But as someone said I don't think someone will be breaking that 1,360 goals record set by the ONE and ONLY Tony Lockett. Matt Richardson and Lloyd have the potential to reach 1000 goals.

Lance Franklin is a gunn, ive been barriking for hawthorn since i was born. There is a reason he got given number 23, only the best are aloud to wear it. and i quote the commentators from the finals last year 'You cant wear number 23 and not be a showstopper, John Scott, Dermet Breaton and Lance Franklin, he will be the best of them all"

One does not even come close to being mentioned in a conversation discussing "best ever" players, after four games this season.

Legends of the past have performed creditably for periods of 10 years or more on the trot. Franklin has to be around for a lot longer & performing well before anyone "with any football knowldge" would make such a statement.
