  1. It depends. I know someone who had it done a couple of years ago and she still has to use eye drops. Dry eyes are a common result of this procedure so people who already have dry eyes are considered to be poor candidates for it.

  2. depends on how your vision is. i was a -4.25 for years and finally i just went ahead and did it 8 years ago. i was really scared, but when you look into the process its really not that big a deal. yes its your vision, that was my main concern, but i can say i have loved it. i am now 40 and i can tell my eyes are changing a little, but i am only -50 now. so that is better than before. there is no pain and the no glasses and contacts everyday is amazing to this day.

  3. Depends how bad your vision is. Two pieces of advice. 1. Is it so bad that glasses, etc. cant help, are you willing for it to go worse if you the procedure goes wrong.

    2. If you do have the surgrey get a good doctor to do it.

  4. I know two people who have had eye surgery, and they both have perfect vision and no problems, as far as I know.

  5. It depends on how much you hate your glasses, if you think it's worth the money.

I had glasses since I was 7 and they didn't really bother me that much until the last couple of years I started thinking about lasik.  I finally decided to go for it and when I started telling people I was thinking about it, I had a lot of people tell me that they either did it themselves or their spouse had done it or uncle or somebody they knew and all of them were really positive.  Only one guy said that his wife went back to needing glasses but that was like 10 years after lasik and it's a very weak prescription she has now. Nobody talked about any side effects or problems or getting worse.

So I had lasik about a month ago, can see great and have had no problems

  6. no its not,

unless your eyes are pretty fair,

if you have bad eyes i would not reconmend it.

i know people who got it done and they still wear glasses.

it only works for a little bit, then it fades away and you will still need glasses, yours eyes wont be as bad but you will still hae a difficulty in seeing.

  7. For most people unhappy with using glasses or contacts, yes.

But it's exactly the opposite of a national lottery.

There the odds are terrible, but you're only betting a buck or a pound.

With Lasik, the odds are very good, but you're betting a big chunk of your eyesight.

Around 95% of people report themselves to be happy to very happy with the result *despite* any side effects.

The most common of these, reported in a variable percentage of people, are

Refraction not as near zero as hoped

    Dry eye, temporarily or permanently

Glare or haze especially at night.

Around or below 1% more severe problems can occur: loss of best vision due to cornea irregularities, epithelial cell infiltration, infections...

Check the websites below: the FDA Lasik site, and a typical consent form.

The vast majority of the people I've seen with it have been very happy, but I've seen a few literally in tears over how little I can do to help their vision, as not even glasses or contacts could restore it properly.
