Is last pocket pool a dumb way to play pool?

dude all you gotta do is make sure u pot your  last ball in the pocket u actually wanted to pot black in to start with...then it aint technically last pocket...............=)

I wouldn't say it is a dumb way to play pool. It's just a variation on the game of 8 ball to make it a little more interesting, that's all. Sometimes when players are a little bored with a regular game of 8 ball they can play last pocket or bank the 8 or any other little thing that might keep their interest alive. I don't see how it can be an advantage or disadvantage to either player because your both playing the same game. As far as learning anything from it , i don't really see that aspect either. Just a little spice for the game , that's about it.

In my experience, the "last pocket" rule is used by inferior players to prevent better players from running out on them so they can at least get another shot at the table. So yeah, it's just an annoying way for bad players to try and beat good players. I will never play that way with money on the table.

Last pocket is a great way to end the game. It is more advantages to the better player that's true, but you have to learn the disciplines of a game, the short cuts, the setups, etc.

Every pool game is a little different but the objective is the same. Have fun, don't take it too seriously and good luck.
