    Lateral S.A. is like how many acres a place has. (How many square feet it has)

    Perimeter is like a fence. (How many feet of fencing etc.)

No, although they are similar.  Surface area is the area on the outside of a 3-D object, and perimeter is the length around the outside of a 2-D object.  As an example, a cube of side length L has a surface area of 6L^2 (since each of its six sides has an area of L^2) whereas a square of side length L has a perimeter of 4L.

    Edit: Based on posts below, it looks like *lateral* surface area is just the surface area on the sides of a 3-D figure, not the top and bottom.  So the aforementioned cube would have a lateral surface area of 4L^2: 4 walls times L^2 area per wall.

  3. perimeter is more for 2D figures where lateral surface area is for 3D figures. so thats a no to your answer

    the perimeter formula is to add all the sides together on a polygon

    the lateral surface area formula is finding the surface area of the 3D figure but without the top and the bottom area of the figure
