Is laughing at your own jokes before others get a chance to acceptable?

Sometimes, when I jest about something, I am so humored by it, I might begin to laugh at it before others have time to react. Does this spoil it for others or does this help allow them to laugh too or does it depend on the type of joke?

Jokes are meant to make other people laugh.Regarding your question, it spoils the event  or people may laugh just to be polite (you may not be aware even of that).Let others start the laugh, you can join later.
