Yes.  Pretty much so.

Laurel Canyon is in the Hollywood Hills -- filled with super modern houses perched on the hillside. Residents run the gamut from businessmen/women, wealthy retires, g*y couples, bohemians, artists, people in the entertainment industry, etc. So, needless to say, it's quite safe.  The biggest danger would be from a brushfire, not crime.
