Is learning guitar difficult?

And if I learn an acoustic guitar, will I be able to somewhat play other types of guitars as well?

no its not to hard to learn basic chords. you just have to practice them over and over again. some of the more advanced techniques are more difficult and you may need some actual instruction on.

To me playing an acoustic guitar is harder because you have to be alot more thorough because the neck is bigger and its a little bit harder to play the notes. I think its better to learn it because you will develope better sound as a result of playing something a bit harder. I would start with this and then when you get an electric guitar everything will be much simpler. I have been playing for 11 years and thats how I got started. Hope this helps.

It depends on the person, some people pick right up on it, others have more difficulty, you cant expect to be great overnight but if it is something that you really want to do then you will do good, and yes if you learn on acoustic then you will be able to play on electric, and it makes learning the bass easier too, if you ever decide to pick up on that.

Learning guitar is different for everyone at the very beginning, but no matter what, whether you pick it up quickly or not, you gotta practice to keep up your skills.

And if you plan on teaching yourself, somewhere down the road you WILL need a teacher because you will get stuck (or plateau). So you might as well start right at the beginning knowing the correct things to do and habits to form. I take guitar lessons and I can't imagine teaching myself.

Oh, and if you learn acoustic guitar, you will be able to play electric. They're the same instrument, just different size, strings, etc.
