  1. Its been said that the guitar is one of the easiest instruments in the world to play really, really badly, and one of the hardest in the world to play really, really well.

If all you want to do is learn a handful of simple chords so you can sit around and play basic accompaniment to some simple 3-chord folk or rock or country songs while you or someone else sings -- then yes, that's not hard. You can learn to do that within about 6 months of regular committed practice.

if you actually want to master the guitar - to become a skilled musician who is thoroughly proficient on the guitar -- who can read music, play easily by ear, play any song or piece you want to learn either from sheet music or by ear; fluently improvise lead solos, play in a variety of styles, play competently with other people in a band or jam setting -- figure on it taking YEARS.

Actually, figure on it taking the rest of your life.  Learning guitar isn't a single destination; its a neverending journey.   Once you get started, no matter how much you learn, you realize that there is always more out there for you to learn and improve on.  No matter how good you get, you'll always be aware of what you could do to get even better.

  2. At first you struggle with learning chords and the progressions but, after you learn the basic chords, you start to pick up on it real quick. I suggest starting off with songs that are based on chords. Dont try to jump into tabs. It takes patience but, in the end it is worth it

  3. well, for some people it's easy and for others it's not. it was pretty easy for me, you just gotta try it.
