  1. I find crocheting easier but knitting is enjoyable too.

Here is a link to a video that may help. I learned to knit from library books and have become quite proficient at it.  There are lots of books that show you little tricks to make your article look hand made not home made.

  2. Knitting isn't too difficult.

Here is a site that has lessons with illustrations on how to learn to knit on the top left hand side of the page.  It also has patterns.

    http://lionbrand.com/

    And  here:

    http://www.purplekittyyarns.com/

I hope these two sites help you out.  Good luck and hope you find it easy to do for you.

  3. No it isn't hard.  Lots of little children knit.  I did.  But don't use itty bitty needles and thin yarn.  Start with a #8 circular needle  (or larger) so you don't lose your needles or drop them.  You don't have to connect the two sides.  You don't ever have to get complicated.  Once you become competent, you can knit while you watch TV and feel better about wasting your time. And if you s***w up, you can always rip it out and start over again.  Have fun!

  4. I only know the very basics: the knit stitch, purl stitch (kind of), and binding off. They weren't too big of a challenge.

I knitted myself a scarf a few months ago when I picked up knitting, but I haven't taken the time to follow a pattern for a knitting project... then again, I was self-taught. I may need someone who knows how to knit to help me get any further.

  5. I dont think so... i started learning to knit about a month ago.. started with a scarf, then a beanie and a few other easy projects.. now i am half way through knitting my first basic jersey.  i invested in a learn to knit book with photo illustrations explaining every stitch, method, and a index of abbreviations etc.. its been my bible and if i get a bit stuck i pull out my book and work through it step by step.. also youtube.com has some great videos showing different stitches etc.. so theres plenty of resources out there to help you on your way.. good luck

  6. Yes and no.  I find that crochet is easier.  I could never get the hang of two needles and keeping tension. If you want to knit, however, the Knifty Knitter and Bond Incredible Sweater Machine are great.

  7. It isn't difficult if you are used to handiwork like sewing and embroidery.Holding the knitting needle without slipping is the only thing 'basic'. Thereafter you can learn any knitting pattern just like that.

  8. Learning to knit is easy......getting good at knitting not so much.

I have learned the basics twice in my life...once as a child, and than again more recently.  I have perfected the shawl for a barbie (small long rectangle)....but not much more.

I think it takes a lot of practice and patience.

  9. It really depends on who you are.

I had an easy-peasy time learning to knit.

But there are definitely people who find it difficult.

You don't really need any one to teach you, even to get to a level most people would call advanced.  You just have to know where to look to find the answers to your questions.

there are tons of learn to knit books.

and http://www.knittinghelp.com is a pretty good website with helpful instructional videos.
