I've always wanted to play electric guitar all of my life but they were offering violin lessons at school for free so i did that. I started playing violin when i was 10 (in 5th grade) and stopped at 18 (after graduation from high school) to give myself a break. I'm 20 now and i've recently been listening to a lot of rock music (i like tokio hotel, nickelback, and almost every rock group from the 80's) and i wanna play just like them. Even though i'm 2 years rusty from playing the violin, with my background, will it be hard? How similar or different is guitar to violin? If i take lessons with a teacher, how long will it take me to be good at it? How long will it take me to play any of those rock bands' music?

  1. The guitar is not that hard... If you play the violin, you will get confused between strings when reading partiture... It is because of the note and position... But, if you play the violin, you will have the speed and musical background to play... >You just need to get a teacher and play.... The hardest part will be getting on a band and playing at the same speed and that things... And you can be lead guitar (soloes and that stuff) or rythmic guitar (background like chords etc) just get a teacher to start and then you can keep by yourself...

    Good Luck

  2. i don't think so !! they always say that the violin is the hardest instrument ! so with ur background ! it should b like taking candy from a baby!!!!
