Question:

Is life all about oneself?

It seems to me that if one is not living for God, than one is living for oneself. And by living for oneself, I mean living it up (s*x, drugs, parties, money, success, etc. etc.).

To those who identify with this, do you believe that you can do whatever your heart's content and than when you die, you will go to heaven and practice the same lifestyle there too? Is life on this earth all about living for oneself and than, because we lived for ourselves on earth, we will get this magical heavenly experience, which is suppose to be some type of magical place for us to be perfected?

What do you think?

  1. Life is about praising God and spreading God's word to other's who don't know God.

  2. Pretty much, but I'm only typing with one hand, I'll be right with you....

  3. Live for God.

  4. I am sorry to say but there are a lot of people who do not believe in God. God said do not worry for they first hated me. The best that we can do its too pray for the ones who do not Know Christ and to preach the word of God to them. But if that does not work we just brush the dust from our shoes and move onto the soul that will listen to the word of God. Just like Paul. The bible teaches us that Paul hated the christians so much that he feed them to the lions. But God touched Paul's harden heart and Paul eventually accepted the word of God. So will the individuals that we share the word of God to. But we can not judge others we use to be at the same place as millions of people are now and that was we were lost to.

  5. Life in Christianity, is about dying to self...

  6. Life is about making this ride a little easier for those with whom we share it. It's being in service to others, to help in any way we can. Lend an ear, give advice, dry a tear, loan a few bucks without expecting to get it back, hold the door open for others, carry an old woman's groceries, help a child cross the street safely...

It's the little things we do for others that makes our lives meaningful and enriches theirs. It's possible to have a meaningful life without having a god to worship.

  7. I am a Christian and I don't believe your statement is stated well.  If one is not living for God, it doesn't necessarily mean they are living for themselves.   Perhaps they live it for someone else ... or someTHING else.

A more correct statement would be that we are either living for God or we are not.  And a good number of Christians readily accepted His death on the cross, yet make little attempt  to actually live for Him.

Additionally. we must dispense with painting atheists as incapable of moral decisions. It's divisive and, more importantly, wrong.

The * only * difference between an atheist and a Christian is that we have accepted the free gift of grace provided my Christ.   That's it.  Read any more into it and you obviously don't understand the importance of said grace.
