Question:

Is life better in Austraila and the United States?

I've done a lot of research about Australia. I really want to visit and see what it's like. I've also researched how difficult it is to immigrate (emigrate?) to Australia. I know about the point system, etc.

I'm wondering if anyone can tell me if life is better that. Here in the United States, we're in a recession. Jobs are few and hard to come by.

Would I be happier in Australia? I'm a g*y guy, not that it matters. I don't flaunt my sexual orientation.

I'm an extremely patriotic American, but I wonder if life is better in Australia? Maybe I'd be less lonely?

  1. mate, life is pretty boring in Australia if you don't have family here or don;t have a goal. If you want  a steady life australia is ok but if you wanna get rich or excitcitng fast lifestyle australia is not the way to go.

  2. BRF has given you some good advice. Also Sydney has a large g*y community where you are sure to be accepted.

  3. Every country has it's positives and negatives. I love Australia, don't get me wrong, but after living there, I am sure glad I live in America.

As I said, tastes and interests are different, so why not visit there and see if you like it. However, if it's about the "recession", thats not a very good reason.

We are in a global world (I know that may sound like a redundency) but the economic issues in america are echoing accross the world. Europe is seeing some major banking problems due to the problems in the US, and it will continue to hit places like Australia as well- the whole world is interlinked!

In addition, it's 100% natural for countries to go through cycles. Every country is going to go in recessions at some point, and is going to go into economic booms. By the time you move to australia, they will be in a recession, and we will have broken out of it.

    Good luck!

  4. At present, jobs are plentiful in Australia, but as BRF says, we live in a global economy and the problems in the US have had some effect here. That said, even though growth has slowed somewhat, our economy is still growing and looks like continuing to do so for the foreseeable future due mainly to massive demand from Asia for our minerals. Our governments are running large budget surpluses and though inflation was rising, it now seems to be under control and hopefully interest rates will start heading down again.

Whether Australia is the place for you depends very much on the type of lifestyle you're looking for. g**s have no problems here with discrimination and we have large g*y communities in all of the larger cities.

If you enjoy an outdoors lifestyle, there's no better place on Earth and if nightlife is what you're looking for, Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane should have enough for most people. Just remember that we have lonely people here too, so don't expect a move to be magical in that respect. Aussies are very friendly and welcoming though and as an American you'll stand out from the crowd which should help break the ice - that's often all that's needed.

Why not visit for a month or two and check us out. Even if you decide not to come here permanently, it's a great place to visit and well worth the trip.
