I'm not looking at getting speakers or subs from them, because i've heard them and they don't sound as good as other brands

but Im looking at getting an amp from them and im wondering if their amps actually put out the stated RMS

heres the link to the amp on the website

http://www.lightningaudio.com/products/product_details.asp?cat_id=2&series_id=17&family_id=20&item_id=104673&locale=en_US&p_status=

It's gonna be powering 2 alpine type-r's wired to 1 ohm

r's are 500 rms each so i figured a 1000 rms at 1 ohm amp would be fine, just want to know if its a good enough brand to trust

im not buying it full price im getting it off ebay from someone i know's store for 159 bucks

  1. the stated power has nothing saying that its rms power  i think its the peak  with any luck it will be about 500 watts rms.  thats still not bad for your price.

the problem with buying lower level amps that ive had is that the overload protection is too sensitive  it would plip into protection mode when a little hot and it would shut off.   They arent meant to run that hard.

  2. i think its junk. a more expensive amp will sound alot better.

  3. My feeling is you get what you pay for. Lightning Audio is not priced with the more recognizable brands (Alpine, Rockford, Kicker, etc.) I'd think that would say something about their equipment.  Just my opinion.
