Is lime wire safe....

Question

My hubby put lime wire on his lap top and now it's gone cRaZy!! He'd never had a virus before but since he put it on he's had stax! I really wanted to put it on mine as I have friends that use it all the time with no problems... what are other peoples experiences? Could it maybe be that his anti-virus software wasn't up to date?

the program is safe just be careful of what you download like if it has a whole bunch of numbers and letters behind the name of the song ( or whatever ur downloading)  it probably has a virus. also make sure u have a firewall just to be sure.

I bet your hubby was DLing p**n..it's full of Trojans!  If you use it just make sure you run EVERYTHING you DL through your VP....

ye it is safe, just make sure your anti virus scans evry thing, people may call lime wire illegal, but it isnt because it is peer to peer sharing..

Don't use Limewire, use Frostwire or Blubster both are free and are bug free.....enjoy

Limewire is only safe if you have a knowledge of file sizes, file types etc. That latest movie isn't gonna be 15kb and the new track won't be 1mb. I don't use it anymore because sooner or later you will download a virus or trojan.

A good tip is to browse the host of the file you're interested in. You can usually tell which is a genuine person at the other end and which is a dodgy guy trying to seed malware.

If there's a track you want, hover the mouse over it. If it gives details like album, tracknumber, bit rate and length, it's usually real. The top result of a track is sometimes a filesize 3242kb. This is a generic malware download. No matter what search, this one adapts the name and comes top.The  'Hover the mouse' tip works here because it will only give you the track name

Yes the program limewire is safe but it depends on what you download. and make sure you have a antivirus program

It is in theory. However, many of the things uploaded, even music tracks, contain viruses.

Make sure you scan anything that you download. Also go into the settings and disable uploading, because you may be accidentally sharing private documents.

It's generally unsafe to download media from limewire. They could have viruses, trojans, keyloggers and other malware that will harm your computer.
