  1. Only if one cares about honesty and integrity, so, no, not to China.

  2. It is if you have a sense of... What's the word I'm looking for...? If looks aren't everything to you and you feel a person's talents and/or self is more important than if their teeth are a bit less than perfect, then yes it is a big deal.

I didn't hear the National Anthem, but if it was even halfway decent then that little girl who sang should have been given the credit. Not tossed aside for some other girl to take her credit just because of her teeth.

    Because she wasn't pretty enough.

  3. its cheating

what else are china cheating in?

  4. Yea, it kinda is a big deal. Wow there like 7 years old and you can't let the one who can actually sing ...sing? It's all a beauty contest...

  5. i feel sorry for the girl that actually sang

the organizers basically told her she wasn't cute enough for the world to see

but the entire opening ceremony was a performance, a televised event, and it was still outstanding

  6. no its not a big deal. considering how well china was able to pull off the opening ceremony, its normal for others to finds flaws to complain about. that girl was probably taken off for some other reason, who knows the real reason why. she could of been sick or whatever but it got changed into some stupid story so everyone would be pissed off with china and to make a few news headlines, no one knows the real story. and now everyones going, aww.. that poor little girl, shes so cute, china is so cruel to judge people by wat they look like and the whole worlds going to sympathise her and hate china. the world wanted a good show and china gave a good show. and now everyone goes and complains over some stupid thing just to find an excuse to put down china and their efforts. as for the one who said people should go look in the mirror, no ones perfect blah blah. im pretty sure they know what they look like, thats why they work behind the scenes and arent the ones singing ==" and whats this fuss all about, everywhere you go, people are getting discriminated against because of appearance, why dont you go and complain about that?

  7. Uh, a little bit. They cut the other girl out because she wasn't cute enough. Can you imagine what that would do to a 7 year old girl?

  8. Like the fireworks footprints and the handbags in the silk market, China has put forward another false front and lied to the world.  I worked on the Ceremonies in Sydney and the performers mimed there but they did mime to their own voices.  It's true you cant leave things to chance when doing a broadcast of this kind but the fact that they came out and said the other little girl was "flawed" is appalling.  Luckily she's not allowed to have an opinion or a voice so her crushed spirit will never be heard.  It's odd how they picked a little girl - I thought they favoured little boys....?

  9. I would say it kind of is.... What kind of message is China sending..... You have to be beautiful otherwise you get shafted.....that is very vain.

I know they wanted to put on an amazing show.... but it just doesn't seem fair to the other little girl

To AverageB: soo... they didn't have time to rehearse the other little girl??? Why did they already have her voice pre-recorded?? I agree if she was not picked then she was not picked..... but then why did they make a record of her singing for the show?? What you're trying to say just doesn't quite add up.... Your story doesn't even seem straight either, so I wouldn't go and start pointing fingers.

  10. not a big deal. we all want to be entertained. it's like going to the movies. take it as it is. so if there is a love scene featuring an actress which would require a more voluptuous body double, and the scene comes out visually stimulating, i would have no problem with it.

the worst big deal was i bought a grammy winner milli vanilli tape only to find out that they were fake. and also pop stars lip synching. and they don't even acknowledge it unless they are busted.

  11. Nope. It's only that Western people make all kinds of excuses when get threatened.

  12. While its not a big deal if someone lip synched the song, I agree with the first answerer.  Is it a statement that you have to be beautiful or you arent going to be put in front of people.

  13. In my opinion yes!

They made that poor little girl who was "too ugly, fat and with un even teeth" feel horrible and un wanted! The poor thing! It is mean and unfair to treat someone like that. Just because she is a child, she has feelings and so does her family! She had a great gift, she could really sing beautifully, and she was not allowed to participate because of some idiots who have no heart. Imagine how much that must have hurt her and dis-couraged her? I think those people who told her that should be ashamed and take a look at themselves in the mirror, i'm pretty sure they are not all that perfect themselves.

What kind of message are the Chinese sending out?

Not a very good start to the Olympics if you ask me! xx
