  1. Bittorrents seem to be the safer route for 2 reasons I can think of.

    1. If someone is on a private tracker, such as Demonoid, they would not upload junk or virus-laden files because you'd get reported and the tracker would take action against you, including possibly terminating your account. It's not super-easy to get on some private trackers, and they are coveted because usually you can get better quality files and better download speeds from there, so you would not want to do anything to mess that up.

    2. Torrent search engines such as ThePirateBay and ISOHunt (and others) have the ability for downloaders to comment on that particular torrent. If there is a problem with that torrent (junk file/virus), the comments will usually tell you so you can skip it and not download a giant headache.

Nothing is fool-proof. Be smart about what you download, use good antivirus software, and do a scan of whatever you downloaded before you use it.

  2. hey no dear both Limewire and Bittorrent are same. always they have viruses. You can use utorrent i think its best

  3. they're the same for me. then again i'm pretty smart about what i download

  4. Bittorrent is safer as a torrent is connected to specific content that cannot be changed.  This means that someone cannot add malware to an existing torrent and that a torrent with malware can be quickly discovered.

In Limewire and similar programs, anyone can give a malware file a popular name for people to download.

  5. You can get viruses from both.  Limewire is chock full of bogus tracks and viruses.  Torrents are usually only for compilations (bigger files) and not for individual songs.  If you need a specific song, you just don't have any choice but Limewire.
