Is long distance relationship a good choice?

One of my good friend and i have feelings for each other for the past 6 months. We both know dat we like each other but we had take it slowly, but when i had find out that he was moving i didnt know wat to do. And now we both love each other,,he wants to wait till 2 yrs when he gets bak to get started in a relationship, but on the other hand i dont know wat to choose? should i just wait ? or Choose the long dist?
