Is loss of appetite possibly a sign of teething?

my 9mo just had her first tooth break through a few days ago, and seemed to have no pain at all. now this morning she isn't her usual self, didn't want to eat breakfast (is normally a big eater), and has been crying for no apparent reason. continues to stick everything in her mouth. we think it's teething, does that make sense? and any advice?

  1. Yes sounds like teething to me. Some kids loose their appetite...some kids can have a runny nose... diarrhea or even a low grade fever while teething. Try some cold teething rings...or oragel... you can even give her a little tylenol to help ease the pain. But if you start to suspect something else take her to the doc to be sure.

  2. Its teething :)

  3. When my son is teething, he refuses to eat food.  He will still take a bottle.  I usually give him the bottle cold and he seems to like it.  But he will not take solids.  He will get really cranky and whiny too.  Sounds like that is what is happening with your daughter.  She may also not be feeling well.  Keep an eye on her to make sure she isn't sick.

  4. Yep, that's a sign.  And usually teeth come in as sets, so she's probably pushing the other tooth thru now.  Just hang on, it will be over soon! :)

  5. it sounds like teething -- give her some Motrin and see if she feels better

  6. Yes, sounds like she is teething, most kids like to have either soft fruit to bite or something hard to bite, you could try those to see if its just loss of appetite, if she doesn't take anything else then use some pain relieving gel, after that if she's still not eating see a doctor.
