Is love for girl is only to quench the thirst or is there is something else into it?

Do you think loving someone(girl) is only meant to fulfill desires. My teacher had told me once, it's not only meant for it. Rather love is something else and desire is another thing, although it may be the extreme of love but not all the love.

What are your scholarly thoughts? Please do share;

love is wanting to be with some one just because it not only about s*x but is truly so much more i never fully understood it till i fell in love
