Is magnetism dark matter?

i thought that dark matter might be the stuff magnetism is made of. since spinning charged particles are trapped by a magnetic field like flies on fly papper. and if one sticks to the other maybe spinning charge can collect bits and pieces of magnetism and twist them together forming magnetic lines, making the charges own magnetic field, something akin to spinning a cocoon. and these invisible bits of magnetism could be the stuff of dark matter.well the magnetism has to come from somewhere ,right? i believe the only reason magnetism is so mysterious is because we can't see it, if we could we might be surprised that we are awash in a sea of magnetism. then we might be able to see the connection between objects, and that connection could cover great distances because magnetism travels @ c. and if some of it is not closed loop but able to travel away from it's host, might it not be dark matter? gravity guru.

  1. No.  Magnetism isn't mysterious, it's well understood by anyone who cares to study it.

  2. "Dark matter is strange, indeed.  It does not interact through the electromagnetic force.  If it did, it would absorb or emit photons and it wouldn't be 'dark' in the sense we're using the term here. Yet, because we know that it exerts a gravitational attraction, we can conclude that this unseen "stuff" must be a form of matter-matter that interacts with ordinary matter only through the gravitational force.  Detecting dark matter, and finding out what it is, remains a very active research field today."

at least 90% of the stuff is out there...meaning only 10% of whatever else is what we see...cool...hope this helps...

In sum, it is not magnetism...this source, which is college textbook, points that if it was something we were used to dealing with it would emit photons, which we can see, or react as we know it too already...we will know someday...
