Is making marijuana against the law, suggesting that GOD made a mistake, when he made it...?!?

...Now i do not use marijuana, but im wondering, do Christians think, it should be legalized?

Why else would god make a plant that grows ever where, and has hundreds of positive affects, and medical benifits, if he didn't want people to use it?

Did god leave it here by mistake? or was it to tempt us? or are the governments trying to play God, by saying they know better than him?

  1. TO ANSWERS ABOVE: snakes & gasoline do not have medical benefits. Marijuana does.

  2. You forgot to mention the paranoia and cost and neglect of children. Nothing like mama and daddy being spaced out all the time!

  3. I'm an atheist who doesn't use marijuana, but I support its legalization.  However, this is not the best argument.  If I were a Christian, I'd think that God made opium poppies, too, but does that mean we should legalize recreational opiate use?  Or I'd believe that God made nightshade, but that doesn't mean He intended me to eat it.

Edit: It's not as though marijuana is completely harmless. I would argue that its intoxicating effects put one in no more or less danger than the intoxicating effects of alcohol. If we allow responsible alcohol use, I don't see why we can't allow responsible marijuana use. Still, to the extent that alcohol is dangerous because there will always be some idiot trying to operate a car or a chainsaw while he's drunk, there will be idiots doing the same thing while high. So there's at least that much danger in legalizing marijuana.

Edit 2:  I'm not talking about the use of opiates for medical reasons. Of course, that's completely acceptable.  I'm asking if you think that opiates can be used responsibly as recreational drugs, in the same way people (are supposed to) use alcohol.

  4. Everything's a test.

  5. Cognitive freedom is just another thing religion and government attempts to take away from me.

  6. I believe that marijuana should be legalized, but not for those reasons.

People should have the right to put what they want into their bodies, regardless of the affects.

I have never taken drugs, and I probably never will, but I still believe that they should be legalized.

  7. Marijuana is just another plant. I'm sure if you attempted to inhale half the plant you see around your neighborhood, you would find a few that would make you a bit high.

No, I would say it's just a plant that people are using wrong.

  8. Just as much is it a sin to clone and use genetic engineering since God gave us the intelligence to do so.

  9. Legalized only for medicinal purposes, just as God intended, not for recreational purposes.

    Catholic Christian

  10. Early man and the apes from which he evolved ate psychotropic plants. There has been research done to see if the lack of it in our modern society has contributed to the rise in mental illness and the use of anti-depressants.

Are the governments in league with the legal drugs companies?

  11. I believe marijuana should be only for medicinal purposes only(pill form).  No recreational use WHATSOEVER!

Smoking any plant in general is not good for you because of the direct smoke you are inhaling.  That is just plain common sense my friend.

I want to tell you something.  The government wants you to smke marijuana, do drugs and get overweight.  Its easier to control a drunk, high or stupid person, than it is to control an intelligent, sober, non braincells killed person.

I am a christian by the way.  Drug free and I make top marks in my school!

  12. If you look at the history of the criminalizing of marijuana, it was made criminal in attempt to get Mexicans to leave the USA during the depression. I don't know about other countries, but in the USA it is just the government trying to play God

  13. God made hemlock also, but that doesn't mean we should ingest it.

  14. This is quite maddening!

I have been searching high and low on YouTube trying to find the old song "Jesus Rolls His Own" - it put things brilliantly into prospective.

You'll just have to take my word for it, that's all (sighs!)   Wish I could remember who did the song.   Anybody remember?

  15. Just like He made gasoline to huff????????

  16. I believe after watching the History Channel that the only reason pot was made illegal was to find a way to hassle the Hispanic pickers in the '30's ( I believe it was the 30's).  Booze was also illegal at one time here in the states but Jesus and the apostles drank wine.  I don't think God makes mistakes but people can abuse anything i.e. inhalants that they huff, cold medicine they turn into meth etc.  Why would the government be trying to play God, they don't base their governing decisions on the Bible?  God gave us the brains to discover all sorts of ways to injure ourselves if we are so inclined, but the fault rests with the same species, man.  As for legalizing it,  I don't think you should go to jail for it, but I don't think it should be available at the local mimi-mart either.

  17. LOL

did you know that "Christ" is a translation that means "the anointed one"

and Jesus was anointed with marijuana, not a joke.

In this time, where jesus lives, marijuana was grown as h**l in the whole territory. This was proof by many scientist and historian!

  18. Christians like God until they figure out their profit is not returning.  Then they turn to big pharm.  Funny how people with faith in intelligent design don't believe in the intelligence of the design.

  19. God made many harmful things. Just because you can pet a rattle snake, doesn't mean you should

  20. If I made a chair, would it be my fault if you use it to hit your head with? No!

  21. And

  22. They have found medicinal purposes for marijuana, which makes me think that is why it is here. Man is the one who comes up with all the wrong reasons to use things that were originally for something else.
