  1. Hi, I'm 25, and I've lived in Manchester my whole life, and I find it is as safe or as dangerous as any city. You just have to know where not to go, but generally it is safe. If you are going to be put into student accommodation, you must be aware that there are likely to be thieves operating around student areas, as they think students are easy prey, but you will be made aware of this when you come and study here. I know a guy who had his house broken into and had his things stolen (luckily he had insurance)... BUT I also know a lot more people who have never had any problems here! Personally, I have never encountered any kind of violence, theft or assault! Like I said before, it's as dangerous/safe as any city, just do some homework and see which areas are better suited to you.

Cost of living is much MUCH cheaper than London!

I find that Manchester is less intimidating, and more relaxed atmosphere.

Yes, there are plenty of things to do here! Lots of music and bands to go and watch, lots of free art galleries to visit, theatre shows, plenty of shopping, lots of clubs/bars/ restaurants, chinatown, student activities, etc, Manchester is a very mixed and cultural place, lots of foreign students from all over the world.

Hope you come, you will enjoy it a lot!

  2. I'm 16 years old and the most danger I've ever been in is falling down the steps outside of my house.

Every city has it's danger points, some are worse than others. Moss side is known as sort of the gangland of Manchester, so steer clear. Otherwise, the city centre and areas around are great.

Yeah, there is a lot of things to do, really. The city centre and the Trafford centre would be the best places for that.

  3. manchester should be the capital of u.k instead of london. it is cheaper to live here and way more roomy and relaxy.

Just dont go in rogue places like mosside where gangs are there. stay in longsight city centre anywhere like this and i'll never want to go back to london. We have Manchester i which is better then london i and also we have trafford centre wheree millions shop and enjoy there lives everyday. Theres NO traffic like london we have a system where traffic is like once a mounth

so be ready for the best time of ur life.
