  1. Funnily enough it's easier to learn it as an English speaker!

Pinyin has been developed to facilitate learning Mandarin for both young children and foreign (eg: English) speakers.  It is in fact the National Standard that is used in Chinese schools.

  2. sometimes. are you a psp fan coment my quitions

  3. The bottom line is if you are willing to put in the time and effort.  I am only speaking for myself here, but as Cantonese is my native language, I have not encountered much difficulty in learning Mandarin.

  4. Any language requires time and effort! Try your best!

  5. Mandarin is the national language, so it should be taught already in schools all over China, including in Cantonese-speaking areas like Hong Kong. However, if you're talking about someone learning it as an adult with no experience with mandarin, then yes it's difficult. Knowing Cantonese is no help in learning how to speak Mandarin because speaking-wise, there are not that many similarities. They are essentially two different languages. The only commonality is in the written language, and even then there is a difference in the way things are phrased between the two dialects. Learning it together as one goes through school is the best way.
