Could the mileage and time measurement vary when using alternate routes not pertaining to map quest? Please explain in detail and give examples if applicable. Thanks for any assistance you can give.

  1. Yes it is very possible and likely that it is not precise. The mileage can be off a tenth here or there. They also don't precisely give you the exact location on the map either. They can be a house or business away from the actual location.

  2. No its not. I typed the exact addres in mapquest then typed it in MSN maps. Both were different locations and MSN was right!

  3. One time I found that the name of the street given in the directions was incorrect. Use Yahoo maps instead, it's more reliable.

  4. It is sometimes less then the best. For example to get from here to Pasadena, CA from the San Fernando Valley I got directions to take two different freeways-then at the very end transition to the 210-It was closer and easier to take the 210 from the start to the finish. Also road closures and off ramp closures can come as a surprise.

Returning from Victorville the transition to the 210 was closed and I missed the detour-ended up lost for hours trying to find my way home. I had left Victorville at 9 p.m. and got home at 2 a.m.

Try Yahoo maps/MSN maps and Map quest to see which is most logical for your destination.
