It shouldn't be, it's not like cigarettes where the nicotine makes it addictive. Marijuana is a plant, used naturally it shouldn't cause addiction just mind-altering effects. There are worse things than pot on the market, legally as well.

No there is absolutely NO evidence that would suggest that MJ is addictive in the proper meaning of the word.  Wanting to smoke after a day is NOT being addicted...Nicotine is addictive, Heroin is addictive, cocaine is addictive, MJ is not.

And to the previous poster, the so-called "gateway" theory has been completely disproven, there is no evidence that most people who smoke, go on to harder drugs.
