  1. is this joseph the holy smoke joseph?

  2. both are bad for you - don't smoke or do drugs!

  3. facts about marijuana:

it does contain cancer causing chemicals

it slows a person's reaction time

    it impairs judgement

    it causes hallucinations

it causes women to grow facial hair

it causes men to grow b*****s

take these things as you will.

  4. It contains 20 times more ammonia and is more toxic. However, a controversial study indicates that it prevents some cancers.

  5. no.  mj has no addictive substances.

  6. your asking for pot heads to answer you

  7. Well, no it's not necessarily more hazardous than tobacco. But it's still hazardous.

While tobacco does kill millions each year, tobacco is also smoked by many millions more people than dope is. It is also smoked more regularly, whereas dope smokers don't tend to chain smoke like tobacco smokers do. There have been hundreds of studies on the harmful effects of tobacco, and a massive pool of people to study, but relatively few on marijuana.

Marijuana doesn't have exactly the same toxic stuff in it that tobacco does, but it still has more than its fair share, and "toxic" is "toxic" no matter what variety it is. Anyone who implies that it's harmless is completely ignoring reality.

The main issue with dope beyond being just bad for your lungs, is that most recent studies done on it have shown an increased risk of mental health problems with long term use, especially schizophrenia which can become a pretty serious mental illness. Short term use hasn't shown any major serious effects (though, neither does short-term use of tobacco - the damage is cumulative, so it is the long term continuous use which really hurts).

EDIT: Sorry, I'm really going to cut loose here. I don't care whether this becomes a "best answer" or not.

Your answerers saying that it is harmless, not addictive, or that it's not so bad because there are no recorded deaths are totally full of sh*t.

It is not AS addictive as the nicotine in tobacco, but there are MANY recorded cases of addiction. You get addicted to the "high" the drug causes, not the drug itself. That's why people feel the need to keep taking it. No recorded deaths? So does that mean it's relatively harmless? I could smash someone's elbow to a pulp with a sledgehammer and it wouldn't kill them. So can I conclude it's just harmless? What a friggin stupid argument. No end of bloody stupid answers here on Yahoo.

  8. Marijuana is more hazardous than tobacco. Or rather it's more of a risk. When you buy cigarettes or chew from the store, it's controlled, you know what's in it. When you buy marijuana, it could be laced and there's no standards to it's quality since it's illegal in the first place. Both are dangerous to health anyway.

  9. Just like tobacco, it can cause lung problems. Remember, you are smoking a joint with no filter. No immediate problems, but long term health problems, definitely. I used to smoke regularly when I was a young adult and now at 40 I have asthma.

  10. No..  Tobacco kills millions each year..

Pot just has a political problem boosted by media hype.

    Its actually hamless by comparisson.

I mean when was the last time you heard of someone dying from pot ?

In practice one or two  hits is often enough.

Tobacco has big money behind it.  They introiduce chemicals to stimulate addiction practice.

Pot is just a natual weed that grows just about anywhere.

Its no wonder its illegal.  Its free basically..

80 percent of my highschool  smoked it.  and that was 35 years ago.

    Enjoy...

PS:  The government is very good at telling lies...

If in doubt --  reference Gorge Bush.    Both of them.

They hate the money it makes which they get nothing of...

8-)    Logic and politiacal laws have little in common.

    Hope this helps...

  11. From what i've researched one joint = about 5 cigs in terms of being harmful for your health

    but think about that

    I know people that smoke 2+ packs a day. 40 cigs! = 8 joints

personally I don't know anyone that smokes 8 joints a day

Smoke anything (tobacco weed crack wood idk paper?) and it can lead to lung cancer and emphysema so in terms of health they can be just as damaging its just that people often smoke more tobacco than weed so thats why you see more cig smokers with major health problems

  12. no because when i started smoking it was easy to inhale weed but i would always cough trying to inhale a cigarette.  the man always lies about weed. its safer than alchohol

  13. no

  14. tobaccos worst but marijuana got some few positive impacts but overall any type of smoke is bad for you

  15. The correct answer can be both yes and no. Marijuana smoke is about 4 times as damaging to your lungs as tobacco smoke. Marijuana will also kill off more brain cells than tobacco. Based on these facts, marijuana would be more hazardous.

However, one important point not discussed is addiction. Tobacco, rather nicotine, the active chemical in tobacco, is very addicting both physically and psychologically. Marijuana (THC) is not physically addictive but can be psychologically addictive in some users. Based on these facts, tobacco is more hazardous because it has a much higher potential to become addictive.

CONCLUSION: Marijuana smoke itself is more hazardous than tobacco smoke.

However, marijuana users tend to smoke in their teenage years and their 20's and stop in their 30's, while tobacco smokers become addicted and end up smoking their whole life.

So in the long run, tobacco is more dangerous than marijuana, meaning the average marijuana smoker is less likely to develop problems because of smoking compared to the average tobacco smoker.

So if you had to pick between smoking marijuana for a year and smoking tobacco for a year, the logical choice would be marijuana, although illegal it is in fact safer in the long run.

  16. no.

  17. NO! Absolutely not. Marijuana is not addictive and even chronic users are at no higher risk for cancer or emphysema than non-smokers.

There are no recorded deaths caused by marijuana. How many die each year because of tobacco?

  18. it affects your dopamine levels and your syratonine (yes, i spelled this wrong) levels, which include ability to o****m and emotional status.  but,  its not as deadly as tobacco.  tobacco will kill you.  pot will just make you wanna hug people and play video games and snack a bunch.

  19. Both are silent killers.

  20. Tobacco is more harmful than marijuana.

  21. yeah.

  22. no, it is actually better than tobacco.

  23. no, but it can have long term effects on your lungs. and memory and..um, i forget what else...

  24. yes, it impares your judgment, plus all the hydrocarbons that cause cancer in tobbacco as a result of burning occur in marijuna smoke. its only a natural part of burning any organic substance to release some kind of hydrocarbons, these are the most carcinogenic substance that occur in tobbacco, and without them, there wouldnt be any flavor and the smoke would be colorless. I would assume the same for marijuana smoking.

however cannabis is less addictive than nicotine and most people dont smoke marijuana long enough to exhibit symptoms of cancer. you need years and years of smoking to exhibit cancer. most cancer patients have smoked tobbacco for 20 years plus. whereas marijuana users dont smoke marijuana for nearly as long to exhibit cancer. (Imagine smoking marijuana for over 20 years... wow)

anyway, i hope this cleared up a few facts.

  25. For years the United States has declared this to be a forbidden substance.  I was outlawed during the prohibition along with alcohol and cocaine.

For every "expert" our anti-pot brigade produces, there will always be 100 more to dispell the myth that pot is somehow some kind of boogeyman herb.  It's just not true.

Truth be known,  it has many good points to it.    I'll make this brief but could go on for a couple more paragraphs.  Pot is less harmful than cigarettes and is not addictive, like our government subidised nicotine.

  26. no it is not cause they dont put the cemicals that they put in a cigeret unless they lace the weed

    keep smoking dawg.

  27. nope

  28. Marijuana kills brain cells.

  29. The news reports research, not myths, they're held accountable.

Marijuana smoke contains more toxins than tobacco, (see link).

Marijuana is not as addictive as nicotine, but has more carcinogens.

Remember that most tobacco cigarettes today are filtered.
