I know that heated tomatoes are less risky than raw tomatoes from salmonella contamination, and I just ordered some marinara sauce from Little Caesar's and I don't know where they get their tomatoes from. Is the sauce safe from the scare?

  1. Yeah I believe that scare is over now I think it's mainly peppers like Jalepenos. So I think it will be ok.

  2. Yes, the marinara sauce will be safe because it has been cooked.  It's only raw tomatoes that were included in the original quest to find the source of the salmonella outbreak.  Now the search has been widened to include hot peppers, cilantro, and onions.  There are about 1,000 cases now and it continues to increase.

By the way, every year approximately 40,000 cases of salmonellosis are reported in the United States. It is estimated that approximately 400 persons die each year with acute salmonellosis.

  3. Well ya its safe..the salmonella came from romano tomatoes and they may not even use those tomates to make the sauce. if your not ceartin just heat some up and itd kill it of

  4. Anything that's cooked is safe from salmonella..

Ketchup and Marinara Sauce, are cooked, they boiling kills any type of bacteria..
