Is marriage a good thing?

...I see so many unhappy couples around me including my parents. I see them fighting everyday. My parents had arranged marriage. Since childhood I was so facinated when people got married, and wanted to get married one day. But I was wondering if there are strong marriages.anymore. would you recommend staying single or marriage.

With the situation I am in, I would stay single, at least for now. When you do decide to get married make sure he is honest and loyal and mature.

This is a very good question:

I would say personally that marriage is a good thing, but then I have been married for almost 6 years now.  This is my second marriage, and definately better than the first.

In the case of an arranged marriage, I do not feel that they are as productive as they may have been in the 1800s, but since it still happens in some countries and religions, even here in the USA, I would say that it must still work a little bit.

If you are stable in your current situation, then by all means, continue it.  But if you still feel that marriage is good for you, then talk to a minister, that is if you have a partner to marry....

You say your parents had a arranged marriage they did not meet on their own then fall in love they had to learn to love each other. Love should always come first, so using them is not a good ex sample. I'm married and i would not change one thing about him. Yea we have arguments it would not be normal not to. Being married to the right person is having your best friend your teammate your lover and your other half rolled up in one. And you should feel most of that before marriage. Dont cheat yourself out of having the best friend you will ever know just because you see so much negative relations around you or because other peoples problems. For example a dog bites someone that someone hates dogs now, will most likely have something bad to say, Does that mean all dogs bite?No it does not. Think of the positive parts. One day you will find that one and you will know, just make sure they love you as much as you love them .

Marriage is a wonderful thing if its entered into with full knowledge of the possible outcomes. If you fall in love and want to marry, go for it, but remember to talk about what you want out of the marriage and what you expect from your partner. Most marriages end due to poor communication. There are many aspects of marriage that should be worked out before hand. Children, money, behavior, and communication are just a few. There are successful marriages. There are also horrible ones. There is nothing wrong with staying single. Some people arent meant to marry, hopefully they dont.
